David Gewirtz

CBS Interactive’s Distinguished Lecturer David Gewirtz is an author, U.S. policy advisor, and computer scientist. He is featured in The History Channel special The President’s Book of Secrets, and, according to CNN, “is a one of America’s foremost cyber-security experts, and is a top expert on saving and creating jobs.”
David is also an instructor at the UC Berkeley extension, a former CNN Contributor, and founder of the ZATZ technology magazines. He is the recipient of the Sigma Xi Research Award in Engineering and was a candidate for the 2008 Pulitzer Prize in Letters.

He currently writes for eWEEK and Techweb and has been a regular contributor to Plane & Pilot Magazine and The Washington Post. Wayne is a frequent guest on a variety of network news and talk shows, and has appeared recently on NPR, Fox Business News and NBC as a technology expert.
Previously, Wayne was Executive Editor and Washington Bureau Chief of the weekly technology news magazine eWEEK, eWEEK.com and Ziff Davis Events. Wayne was a Senior Contributing Editor and a Senior Analyst in the InfoWorld Test Center. He is a retired naval officer, a former principal at American Management Systems, long-time columnist for Byte Magazine and a former News Director for a number of radio and television stations.
