JPMorgan Chase & Co., the biggest U.S. bank, said a previously disclosed data breach affected 76 million households and 7 million small businesses. Customer names, addresses, phone numbers and e-mail addresses were taken, the New York-based bank said today in a regulatory filing.
Malware that cannot be uninstalled by the end user is being pre-loaded onto some cheap Android smartphones. The malware is pre-loaded into the system directory of the handsets at an unknown point within the supply chain.
New research suggests more than 1 billion data records were stolen from more than 1,500 individual data breaches last year. The latest findings from Gemalto, an enterprise security firm, represent a significant year-over-year increase in both corporate breaches and data theft.
